Not only is this love at first gasp photo awesome because it’s just awesome… it also has floating bookshelves, like the ones in my tutorial. Super cool! I’m seriously tempted to recreate the book-pages-wall look in maybe the powder room in our home? Hmmm… I can’t decide which wall to do this to. It’s just so fun looking. Would require A LOT of tape and a very boring book, one not worth rereading. I hope to one day have a before & after photo showing you where I recreated this wall in my home, but today I’ll only share the idea with you. It for sure would have to be a wall where the air conditioning vent is NOT directly aimed at… LOL! That would get annoying very quickly. Can you tell I have an air conditioning vent aimed at a wall in our home, I confess, I do.
Read MoreOk, this is my first tutorial… maybe my only tutorial. Who knows! A friend of mine named Becky taught me how to make these awesome recycled floating bookshelves. I once sold them in an Etsy shop, but I now don’t have the time or desire to sell them anymore. So, I thought I’d just teach you all how to make them yourself, just like Becky once taught me. Kind of like Confucius’s famous quote: “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” Somewhat applicable, right? This tutorial has been my list of “to do’s” for months now. I’m so happy to be sharing it with you.

I’ve loved this mirror for over a year now. Yes it received it’s deserved “gasp” when I first saw it & it’s been with me ever since. It’s one of those keeper images that my memory will not allow me to forget. It’s found on page 75 of a book called “Details” by Brian D. Coleman. The description in the book says: “An oversized mirrored window from a hotel was installed in this New York living room to become an instant work of art”. A work of art indeed & worthy of a love at first gasp post! This is a room that I would love to experience in person. I love how much larger the mirror is in proportion to the green sofa in front of it. I imagine that it breaks some textbook decor rules – that in my opinion, are meant to be broken anyway!
Thank you Taco Bell for your “think outside the bun” motto – it has inspired this post! I know I shared this idea with my Manhattan ORK poster post, but I wanted to share it now with a photo. Do you like? I guess the point is that anything can be pant-hanger hung… posters, photos, art, calendars, you get the idea. This precious photo is of my mother in law, Nora, holding my hubby when he was a newborn. One of my favorite photos ever. I have it in our half bathroom / powder room for all to see. In case you’re wondering… no, there’s never any moisture in that room. It has an air conditioning vent & there is no shower or bathtub where steam would generate. If anything it’s one of the coldest rooms in our house, especially because of it’s marble floor tiles. I featured this half bathroom this past weekend in HGTV’s Rate My Space & it has just been slammed for it’s “think outside the frame” ideas… primarily it’s collage wall – which I must point out, is another great way to think outside the traditional photo frame. Click here for a link to the Rate My Space listing.
Read MoreThis post is an add-on to my wall gallery post. Below are a bunch of wall galleries that I just LOVE! Each unique & each fabulous. I don’t have a favorite… I have three favorites. They are all tied for first place in my book. And my three favorites are… drum roll please… the bottom three!!! Yay! Do you agree? The dog one is so clever with the center photo taped directly to the wall so the other frames overlap onto it & the bottom two staircase art galleries are just breathtaking! I imagine it was quite the challenge hanging those high-up frames in the two staircase galleries. I can’t get my mind around how they were hung – a ladder wouldn’t have a stable base on the staircase steps. The more I stare at, actually the three staircase photos, the more I can’t figure it out! LOL!
Read More… my “gallery wall”! I promised back when I featured our indoor mailbox that I would feature the entire gallery wall & here it is (below right). Who says frames have to match when hung together? All my mix-matched thrift store frames somehow compliment each other when grouped together. I have several inspiration photos that brought my gallery to life – the original one is at the local library somewhere in a book in the interior design section… bummer, I can’t remember it’s name (when I find it, I’ll share it with you, don’t worry).
Read MoreDo you like my Christmas card displays? I love to receive Christmas cards – especially photo ones! I have this super cool old frame with no artwork in it (got for $30 at a local salvage shop in Fort Lauderdale, great price). I painted it that wonderful yellow, oh, painted the clothes pins too! I love small details, can you tell? It’s in my dining room.
Read MoreThanks Ork for designing such a lovely poster & making it affordable. Thanks ’self’ for posting about a neat way to hang an Ork poster – check that out here. I love my new black & white Manhattan poster – even in front of my white wall. The black letters really stand out in the sea of white. I like it! In front of a colored wall the entire white poster would stand out, but I like where it is – it’s a subtle surprise, not poster-overkill.
Read MoreWithout further ado, here’s my beautiful, hand-made Christmas tree. It’s a combination of all my 3 favorites that I shared with you in my Hello Christmas post. My tree is a wall tree like the 1st tree, it is book-related like the 2nd tree & it has garland like the 3rd tree. Poor 10 cent “Contract Bridge Complete” thrift store book that I tore apart. Sorry Charles H. Goren (author of the book):

My wall tree is turning out to be a bit tougher to pull off than expected. I am brainstorming like crazy! Meme (my 3 year old) & I have had fun in our attempts so far! There will be an end result, I know for sure!
