Princesses’ Bedroom

girls' princess bedroom

Ok, so Princess Meme (my 4-year-old) wanted her bedroom pink. I’m almost at the point where I can embrace that idea happily… something in me has just never been a fan of pink walls. So, before I completely give in to her persistent request I’d like to feature her room while it’s still the gray that mama chose. I’m a HUGE fan of gray walls. I told Meme that she got a pink chandelier instead & that there’s pink in her bedding & curtains. For some reason, she’s still not sold on the idea that her room has enough pink in it. Ugh! Thank God Princess Shiloh (age 2) is too little to have a say or else I could be outnumbered in favor of the pink.

Top 10 Headboards

top 10 headboards

I must say, this was a tough top 10 list to come up with. Beautiful headboards are hard to come by, in my opinion. My first top 10 list in this blog was sofas. I feel like I can make a whole other top 10 sofas (part 2) list – there are so many fabulous sofas out there that I “heart”. Now headboards are another story…. these that I consider worthy to be in this list are headboards that I would buy for my own home – again with no cap on price, space or size. I know, I’m dreaming…just dream with me! Aren’t these headboards gorgeous? These are NOT beds – only the back of a bed. I think of beds as able to be centered in the middle of a large enough room. They can stand on their own. Headboards on the other hand are usually hung on the wall – lined up with the bed that will be in front of them. I haven’t gotten the privilege to own a headboard yet – we’ve only done beds so far in our home. But if I were in the market for a headboard I would shop from this top 10 list. Trust me, I’ve done my research. There are many headboards out there, but most of them I will categorized as aesthetically normal and plain. These are truly the top 10 out there; the cream of the crop.

Did You Make Your Bed Today?

bed made

Seriously… did you make your bed today? If not, shame on you (just kidding). Did you know that making your bed in the morning sets the tone for the entire rest of the day? It’s true. I’ve heard that multiple times from multiple people. If you don’t believe me try it & you’ll see for yourself. It has the same affect that putting on make-up & getting out of pajamas does. It somehow tells your brain subconsciously that the day has begun now get prepared to face it with your best foot forward… well, that’s my interpretation of it. One of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ll ever give (to be especially followed when having a bad day or during one of life’s difficult seasons) is: make your bed.

bedside green desk

As promised… here’s THE green desk. I gave you a taste of this little beauty when I shared my Who Needs A Mouse Pad? post. Now I’m showing you the whole desk & sharing how I got inspiration from Pottery Barn to use it as a bedside table too. Adopted for just $60, this gorgeous little antique desk is one of my favorite additions to our home…

As in a fairy tale… “they lived happily ever after” – old things & new things, that is. These photos are not from my home, I am sad to say, but from a Soho flat. Done by Magdalena Keck Interior Design. I was google-ing south Florida interior decorators & Magdalena’s site came up – although she is not in Florida (she’s in New York) & neither is this flat, hmm, what happened there Google? One of the few sites that I actually liked out of all the ones that came up…

Beds That Inspire

Takes thinking outside of the box to new levels doesn’t it? These beds just stand out in their own category called: ridiculously FABULOUS! Who thinks of this kind of stuff? I would love to meet those people. Do they themselves sleep in these beds or only make them for others? The modern fairytale bed in the top photo is by Attila Design – it sells for $9,600!

Do you like my bedroom reading nook? This time the inspiration came from a fabulous book called Junk Beautiful: Room by Room Makeover with JUNKMARKET Style by Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer… LOL! That’s a mouth full. The book is a must-have! I love what they did with the ladder in the corner leaning up against the wall with the clamp spotlight on it…

Nora (my mother-in-law) & I made this beautiful recycled burlap coffee bag from Guatemala into a fabulous pillow with hopes of selling it & now I don’t want to sell it. It looks so fabulous on Shiloh’s bed (photo below). Originally I thought it would look best outside on a bench or chair in the courtyard, but it’s ever so lovely indoors too. Not that comfy to sleep on, ideally for decor.

Fabulous Headboard

I’m so in love with this tufted upholstered antique headboard… wonderful creation by Vintage Renewal an Etsy seller. The mix-matched buttons are fabulous! The subtle, trim, the shabby chic off-white paint… ummm! Love it! Vintage Renewal’s headboard prices range from $450 to $600 (with shipping included – I’m such a sucker for free shipping). The quilt-like fabric pattern would go nicely with simple white bedding, like…
