I’ve loved this mirror for over a year now. Yes it received it’s deserved “gasp” when I first saw it & it’s been with me ever since. It’s one of those keeper images that my memory will not allow me to forget. It’s found on page 75 of a book called “Details” by Brian D. Coleman. The description in the book says: “An oversized mirrored window from a hotel was installed in this New York living room to become an instant work of art”. A work of art indeed & worthy of a love at first gasp post! This is a room that I would love to experience in person. I love how much larger the mirror is in proportion to the green sofa in front of it. I imagine that it breaks some textbook decor rules – that in my opinion, are meant to be broken anyway!

Talk about a conversation piece! How rare to get to salvage the remains of an old hotel… lucky homeowner. Recreating this look has been on the back of my mind ever since I first laid eye on this photo – but I haven’t been so lucky to come across an old rundown hotel for sale… YET! Maybe one day. I imagine that the homeowner must cherish this beautiful mirror such that if he or she had superman powers this mirror would be one of the first things to save in a fire. LOL! I also imagine it was no easy task hanging such a large, heavy object on the wall either, let alone bringing it up the stairs (which you can see the railing of in the bottom right). Workout! To me, this photo puts these words in this New York homeowner’s mouth: “I think this is beautiful & that’s enough for me!” Take that textbook decor rules! I love bold moves like this! I hope you can appreciate this with me!

Ok…I gasped!!! I love window mirrors anyway and this one is the ultimate. Really, I’m in awe!
I gasped. It’s gorgeous. And the mix of red and green, in the right tints, made me gasp as well.
It is huge, gorgeous and I am guessing they don’t have kids
T.
LOL! I’m guessing they don’t have kids as well
Not only is the mirror gorgeous, but I just love the reflection of the windows in it.
That is a great piece!.. I love when places like hotels and schools sell of their architectural pieces… always some hidden gems! Now it’s juts a matter of finding those places that are about to sell their stuff off!
Gasp! Gorgeous. I know this wouldn’t be the same, but it almost looks like two arched mirror halves put together.
Oh my gosh! I think you’re right! I never looked at it as possibly two arched halves. How ever more clever if that’s what they really were. Thanks for pointing that out Valerie
What a great piece for any room. Would certainly be a topic of conversation. Love it.
Love this! I just adore oversized pieces like that, that just plain work!
Really cool!
