My friend Vanessa has one of my favorite dining rooms ever! She is a huge fan of mixing old things & new – we have that in common. Represented in her gorgeous dining space are: Ikea, Anthropologie, Target, salvage finds, Etsy fabrics & tasteful personal touches. Ikea’s black BJURSTA table has never looked better! What a FUN idea to paint it red – go Vanessa! I love how her mix-matched antique chairs compliment the modern Ikea dining table so perfectly. Vanessa was inspired to put her gorgeous Anthropologie sofa next to her dining table for seating by my breakfast nook (which was originally inspired by one of Kenneth Brown’s rooms)… super cool! I love how inspiration makes a wonderful idea live on. Did I mention her dining room is in a rental? I’ve heard of many people that hesitate to personalize their space because their home is a rental. Not Vanessa… rental or not, she made this space her own. I hope she encourages you hesitant-renters! Fortunate for her, her landlord allowed her to paint the walls this cozy chocolate brown. But, even if her walls were the typical rental-white, adding color to her furniture is such an inexpensive way to personalize her space & give it new life. Not only are the colors in Vanessa’s dining room fabulous, ALL her details are as well. I love the wooden branches on the table – repeated in the chandelier & sconces – and the butterflies on the branches (on the table) – such attention to detail. My eyes have so many places to go to… the shiny silk curtains, the fun mixture of varied frames, the beautifully-painted antique cabinet, the mix-matched chair fabrics, the tufted buttons… OH, the tufted buttons – that’s the ticket right there! I LOVE THEM! I’m a sucker for tufted buttons (in case I haven’t mentioned that in like 10 blog posts already!). I could sit in this dining room for hours with a perma-grin because everything in it is to my happy liking! Thanks, Vanessa for sharing your dining space with us. You were inspired by us & now we’re inspired by you – lovely trade!

HOLD IT! I haven’t mentioned anything about Thanksgiving & my “Anthro, REALLY?” post said that I’d feature Thanksgiving-related pieces this week. Not to worry, I can tie Vanessa’s gorgeous dining space to Thanksgiving. Here’s how: in case you’re looking forward to tomorrow’s delicious meal, but wondering where in the world all your guests are going to sit in your tiny home, consider trying what Vanessa, Kenneth Brown & I have done: pull up a small sofa or even a cute love seat to one side of your dining table & vuala! You’ve got comfy extra seating – don’t be surprised if your guest argue over who gets to sit there too!!! LOL! I love when that happens in my breakfast nook, such a compliment! Then just squeeze your chairs & all your other hungry guests that lost the sofa-seating argument along the other sides of your table. BTW, I think the sofa seating would be totally doable with a round table as well – provided that your round table is quite large & your sofa is on the small side. Enjoy!

I think I might need to paint my table red. That looks amazing!
Ohh.. I like her red table too! She really did an amazing job with the room, it looks like a place I would definitely enjoy sitting in.
That last photo is gorgeous. I love the colour of those walls.
Hello and thanks for entering my giveaway and giving some feedback:)Good luck now! Really cute blog you have and love this red table!
I love the big frame in the back on the last pic! Nice idea to have many little pictures in it!
That’s a salvage find. I got a similar large frame – Vanessa & I purchased them together. Mine’s a slightly different pattern & thinner border. It was love at 1st sight for both of us when we both laid eyes on them. SO fun!
