knack studios inspired hutch, china cabinet

The color turquoise has never looked better! My friend Katie blows me away! Mother of 5, home-school mom, wife, cook… the list goes on. Still, she finds time to create such a beauty as this turquoise hutch. Everything about it is lovely… the rusted metal panels, the original rusted knobs, it’s shape (so unique), the keyholes (LOVE those)! Katie got her inspiration from the beautiful orange hutch (or china cabinet, whatever you want to call it) on the left – done by Knack. Barb, creator of Knack, takes not-so-pretty furniture & turns it into the most GORGEOUS furniture I’ve ever… with paint! Yes, I know she uses paint brushes & sand paper & special electrical tools too, but it’s mostly paint. So her beautiful creations inspired my friend Katie to transform an ordinary craigslist-find hutch into a fabulous turquoise work of art. I love the shade of turquoise she choose, so happy & bright. It look perfect too with the gray wall behind it. All colors pop, when next to gray, but Katie’s combo of the turquoise with touches of mustard yellow here & there ranks high in my all time favorite color combos. Well done Katie! So, as inspiration is known to, well you know: inspire, Katie embarks on a new adventure to transform from rags to riches more gorgeous furniture with her own South Florida business: KGrace. Check it out: www.kgrace.com. GO Katie! I’m sold on your talents – your hutch is such a great starting point. It’s beautifully painted, sanded & roughed up here & there… it looks old, yet new… it just looks loved.

  1. It all looks so fresh and beautiful. Makes you think twice before throwing something away.

  2. Wow! That’s amazing. And I like how it isn’t full. I’ve decided that if I ever get married, I will make a bold statement that I DON’T want china.

    • I have to agree with your statement… I think fine china is a waste of money. I confess, though, that I found 4 of the cutest little fine china teacups at a thrift store recently & bought them to use as flower vases. So I admit, I do own a teeny bit of china, but it’s for strictly for decoration! :)

  3. Hi! Thank you so much for visiting me today–so nice to meet you and find your stylish and creative blog! I love this hutch…just LOVE the color turquoise… this just sings–WOW! No fine china here either…hubby & I have a house built on Ikea, and Ikea’s 365+ kitchen series. Off to read some of your archives… Happy Weekend! :o )

  4. Wow! She is so creative! I could never come up with stuff like that.

  7. I LOVE these. I am considering doing this with a couple of pieces of furniture – have to paint the walls first.

  9. I hate craigs list cause its so hard to find things, but I found this craigs list alternative: squibers.com that lets me view things by pictures its SO much easier to use and they have everything craigslist has plus more. craigslist alternative squibers

  10. Ah! Love it. This is very close to the color I’m planning to paint (then distress) an old cabinet.
