Anthro, REALLY?

anthropologie eat & be merry chandelier

Leave it to Anthropologie to think outside of the box! What in the world is with their new “Eat, Drink & Be Merry Chandelier”? I like it, but it’s really kind of crazy! With Thanksgiving only a few days away I want to post this week about some pieces that I think are Thanksgiving-related… this chandelier being one of them. HOW, you might ask? As dining room decor, silly! Of course it can also be used year round, but this chandelier made me think of Thanksgiving especially because of all the vintage silverware hung on it. Another word that came to mind at first glance was: medieval. I’m not a Knights of The Round Table kind of person, but I found the slight medieval-ness in this chandelier to be tolerable. Only Anthropologie could pull something like this off! My “Anthro, REALLY?” question comes into the picture when you check out the price tag on this puppy. A whopping $4,800! What?! I’m not a workshop, power-tool kind of gal either, but if I were this chandelier looks like something that could be easily recreated (with the right tools & a fair amount of skill using those tools). I don’t get why it sells for $4,800, but again, Anthro can pull this off. Wouldn’t this pricey beauty look extraordinary above your dining table as you pass the gravy & green beans 3 days from now? This chandelier is a bit like the Munkii “Vintage” to me… it took a couple minutes, but I have truly embraced the crazy uniqueness in these pieces. What would you say? Is this chandelier an acquired taste? Chew this post slowly folks because this (& 2 more) is all you’re getting this week. Sorry to disappoint you… Thursday’s turkey responsibilities require quite the commitment! Happy early Thanksgiving!

  1. Gotta love Anthropologie! Have you seen their sweater Clocks? Those are the best!

  2. Hmmmm… I betcha even Martha could make one for less than that. I am just glad there are no dangly knives…. that would make me nervous sitting at the table.

  3. That is a really cool piece.

  4. Thank you for your kind comment about my print on http://sweetharvey.blogspot.com/ I really appreciate it! I am now following you on twitter – I did not see a follow here. Anyway, I am so glad you like the print, I really love it myself but often the items I love other people dont love – very confusing!

  5. i do love the things that anthro comes up with…the knife comment was so hilarious…
so glad you came for a visit
    loving your blog
    happy thanksgiving

  6. LOVE Anthropologie! And this chandelier is stunning..truly amazing! I can see that in my dining room… ;o)

  7. I LOVE anthropologie’s creativity – I just did a post on my blog about a china dish they turned into a wall clock – I like this, not for my dining room tho!

  8. I could see that made out of souvenir spoons that people collect from different states. I went to Anthropologie for the first time on Sunday. It’s over an hour away and I fell in love with it! Now I know what all the fuss is about!

  9. That is really cool!! Though for some reason I just don’t think hubby would think it would look good in my dining room :)

  10. I want to make this, but probably can’t! Love this find!

  11. If one of my friends had that in their dining room, I’d be lauging all the way through dinner…but it might come in handy if I needed something to stir my coffee.

  12. Okay.. I’m trying to like this & let it sink in as suggested (hehe) It’s incredibly cool, but I do feel like the right crafty person could whip this thing out fairly easily which to me decreases the value, aside from the fact that every time I look at the photo I just keep seeing a play on hanging pots and pans.

  13. Medieval came to my mind too. I can only imagine this in a room with dark red walls and lots of dark furniture…. oh and maybe Henry VIII sitting in the corner!

  14. I love this chandelier. The idea is terrific!

  15. I love it so cool. I wonder how hard that would be to make and hang in my house?
