Meet Me

My name is Fern. Currently, I live in crazy-hot South Florida – one day I am meant to live in France! I love my family. I love God. I love the example of the Proverbs 31 woman – hence the 31 in my blog name. I love to decorate. I love to go salvage treasure hunting. I love being thrifty. I love looking at decor books & magazines at the library or local bookstore. And I love recreating decor ideas that inspire me. I know I love something when it makes me do a double-take or when I gasp at first seeing it or when I love it twice – this one actually happens quite often! I forget that I saw something & love it again when I see it for the second time. LOL!

I started this blog for a few reasons…
1 – my husband
2 – as a way of saving me time when friends/family tour our home for the latest updates
3 – to share… my inspirations, my home, my style. Why share, you wonder? In hopes that sharing will one day lead to an open door & then another open door & hopefully to some kind of income, to be frank. Blogging has already served as a handy reference tool for me. I believe it will continue to be more useful.

All the decor light bulbs began turning ON for me when we moved into our current townhome. Such a large puzzle piece to my Fern puzzle. Not necessarily a bad piece, or indulgent piece, or obsessive piece. Just the realization of a gift. Trust me, not everyone talks decor or thinks decor or dreams decor. Decor is an area in me that I think the Lord wants to flourish. I have His permission to not have all the doors I mentioned figured out right now. I simply feel like this blog is a step in the right direction.

So, I hope you’ll grow with me. I’m looking forward to sharing with YOU!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
I believe God is the best decorator there is! I love knowing that my inspirations (& everyone else’s inspirations) were really all once His ideas somehow. I also agree with what wise Solomon once said: that “there is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9). We are all born imitators. We decorate because we saw someone else do it. Not to discredit any of the ideas or inspirations shared in this blog, only to mention that this is how it is. There! Nice to have said that out loud!
