We celebrated Meme (our eldest) turning four this past weekend. Sweet, sweet party… I have some photos for you to see below. We had “Sleeping Beauty” come to have tea with Meme and a few of her friends. Just a precious, memorable little birthday party! Budget was tight and, of course, I wanted to decorate. As you may know, I’m a fan of Colin Cowie – he has a phenomenal gift when it comes to planning, organizing and decorating events. He SO inspires me. I read one of his book called “Colin Cowie Chic” a while back and just loved it… definitely worth re-reading. I found the left inspiration photo under the category “Recipes & Tips” on Colin Cowie’s website, titled: Having that Romantic Look. Here’s how Colin described it: “For an utterly whimsical and romantic look, try hanging individual fully blown, inverted rose blossoms in the trees above your ceremony or cocktail reception.”

I have this super cool old frame with no artwork in it (got for $30 at a local salvage shop in Fort Lauderdale, great price). I painted it that wonderful yellow, oh, painted the clothes pins too! I love small details, can you tell? It’s in my dining room.
Read MoreSince we’re only 13 days away from Christmas I guess it’s a bit late to add more decor. Below are some gorgeous finds to keep in mind for next year then. I plan on being fully ready for Christmas (decor, gifts, & all) by November 30th of next year. I’ve learned from this year’s experiences that as good as Etsy sales picking up is, it is truly tough to juggle with all my normal December duties.
Read MoreThanks Ork for designing such a lovely poster & making it affordable. Thanks ’self’ for posting about a neat way to hang an Ork poster – check that out here. I love my new black & white Manhattan poster – even in front of my white wall. The black letters really stand out in the sea of white. I like it! In front of a colored wall the entire white poster would stand out, but I like where it is – it’s a subtle surprise, not poster-overkill.
Read MoreWithout further ado, here’s my beautiful, hand-made Christmas tree. It’s a combination of all my 3 favorites that I shared with you in my Hello Christmas post. My tree is a wall tree like the 1st tree, it is book-related like the 2nd tree & it has garland like the 3rd tree. Poor 10 cent “Contract Bridge Complete” thrift store book that I tore apart. Sorry Charles H. Goren (author of the book):
Read MoreGoodbye Thanksgiving. Hello Christmas. Like most folks at this time of year, I TOO am searching for a Christmas tree. My tree criteria are: something simple, slightly modern, not too expensive, non-traditional & just FUN! Featured in this post are 3 of the most fabulous Christmas trees that I’ve seen so far in my hunt. I’m not a big fan of cutting down the real deal, pine. So, I happily lean towards substitutes.
Read MoreLeave it to Anthropologie to think outside of the box! What in the world is with their new “Eat, Drink & Be Merry Chandelier”? I like it, but it’s really kind of crazy! With Thanksgiving only a few days away I want to post this week about some pieces that I think are Thanksgiving-related… this chandelier being one of them. HOW, you might ask?
Read MoreYou betcha! Isn’t it FUN? My indoor mailbox is the most useful storage space that I’ve come up with so far, in my opinion. Our community association got everyone new mailboxes & put the old ones in front of each home on garbage day. Well, I didn’t get my exact one (don’t actually know why – I think they might have thrown it out), but my neighbor had his next to his garbage pile…
Read MoreThis is TOO stinkin’ cool! Similar to my new love, Charlotte Mann, with the black and white look, but different in that this is wallpaper. Artists Taylor & Wood designed this fabulous wallpaper. The bathroom photo (below left) is my favorite. I love how the frames look hand-drawn & imperfect. Who needs perfectly straight lines anyway, right?
Read MoreCicero, a Roman Philosopher from 106-43 BC once said: “A room without books is like a body without a soul.” (In case you don’t know who he is, click on his name.) I couldn’t agree more. Well said, don’t you think? Pottery Barn was my original inspiration for using books as decor. Then I began to realize that almost every decor book and magazine out there has a book somewhere in a room…
